Every visitor in VisiConnect has a status that indicates their current stage in the connection journey. Understanding these statuses helps your team provide appropriate follow-up at each stage.
Status Categories
VisiConnect uses the following visitor statuses:
First-Time Visitor
Assigned automatically when someone is checked in for the first time. This status triggers initial welcome communications and creates follow-up tasks for your connection team. First-time visitors typically receive:
- An immediate welcome email or SMS
- A personal follow-up call within 48 hours
- An invitation to an upcoming newcomer event
Second-Time Visitor
When a visitor returns for their second visit, their status updates automatically. This is a critical juncture—research shows that people who visit twice are significantly more likely to become regular attendees. Follow-up at this stage includes:
- A personalized message acknowledging their return
- Information about small groups or ministry opportunities
- A phone call from a ministry leader or pastor
Third-Time Visitor
On the third visit, the system flags the visitor as potentially ready for membership or deeper involvement. This status triggers:
- An invitation to a membership class or next steps event
- A conversation about spiritual gifts and ministry placement
- Connection with a mentor or small group
Member
When a visitor becomes a member, their status changes to Member. Members are tracked differently and may still be checked in for attendance purposes, but they no longer receive visitor-focused follow-up sequences.
Inactive
Visitors who haven't attended in a specified period (default: 90 days) are marked as Inactive. This helps your team focus energy on current connections while maintaining a record of past visitors who may return.
Manually Changing Status
While most status changes happen automatically based on visit count, you can manually update a visitor's status when needed. Open the visitor's profile, click Edit Status, and select the appropriate status from the dropdown.
