Confirmation codes provide a way for visitors to verify their check-in and receive follow-up communications. They're especially useful for large services or when you want to give visitors a tangible reference.

How Confirmation Codes Work

When a visitor is checked in, VisiConnect can generate a unique code (e.g., VC-4829) that is:

  • Displayed on the check-in confirmation screen
  • Sent via SMS or email if messaging is enabled
  • Printed on a welcome card or receipt if using a printer

The visitor can use this code to:

  • Verify their check-in on your church's website or kiosk
  • Reference their visit in future communications
  • Claim a welcome gift or follow-up material

Enabling Confirmation Codes

To enable confirmation codes for your church:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Check-in Settings.
  2. Find the Confirmation Codes section.
  3. Toggle Enable Confirmation Codes to ON.
  4. Configure the code format (see below).
  5. Click Save Settings.

Code Format Options

You can customize how confirmation codes are generated:

Code Length

Choose between 4, 6, or 8 character codes. Shorter codes are easier to remember but have fewer unique combinations.

Code Prefix

Add a prefix to identify codes from your church. For example, VC- or your church's initials. This helps distinguish your codes if visitors attend multiple churches.

Character Set

Select which characters can appear in codes:

  • Numbers Only: e.g., 4829 - simplest for verbal communication
  • Letters and Numbers: e.g., A3K9 - more unique combinations

Displaying Confirmation Codes

After check-in, the code is shown on the confirmation screen. You can configure additional delivery methods:

SMS Delivery

If SMS is configured, send the code via text message immediately after check-in. The message can include a personalized greeting and next steps.

Email Delivery

Include the confirmation code in the welcome email. This provides a written record the visitor can reference later.

Printed Receipt

If you have a receipt printer connected, the code can be printed on a small welcome card along with church information.

Verifying a Confirmation Code

Visitors can verify their check-in by entering their code on your church's website (if you've enabled the verification widget). Staff can also look up a code in VisiConnect:

  1. Open the check-in panel.
  2. Click Verify Code.
  3. Enter the confirmation code.
  4. The associated visitor record and check-in details are displayed.
Best Practice: Use confirmation codes for first-time visitors only. This reduces code volume while still providing a useful touchpoint for new guests.

Code Expiration

For security, confirmation codes can be set to expire after a specified period (default: 30 days). Expired codes remain in the visitor's record for historical reference but cannot be used for verification.
